Kangaroos beaten on the road in Brno
DareiosIIIBrno – Bohemians 2:1
However, Brno were not to be denied for long and after 10 minutes of pressuring the Green and White defence they finally managed to equalize when Michal Svec headed into his own goal following a devilish whipped free kick from the right hand side.
Bohemians then continued to have the better of the first half exchanges and came close to retaking the lead when Acosta blazed over from close range. Schick also had an excellent chance before the break having been released from midfield but he failed to find the target and despite the excellent interplay and buildup demonstrated by the Kangaroos they were unable to convert this into tangible results on the score sheet, as has been their problem for most of the season.
After the half time break Bohemians continued to have the better of the play and should have been ahead when Schick rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into an empty net, only to be flagged offside. Replays would later show that he was in fact onside.
All in all it was a very disappointing evening for the 100 or so die hard supporters who made the journey south to Brno on a wet and windy evening and in truth it was a game that the Kangaroos should never have lost. Coach Pivarnik will have to pick his players up and get them ready for the sold out derby against Sparta Prague next week at the Municipal Stadium Dolicek, where a greater degree of composure in front of goal will be required. It is to be hoped that the boys can pick themselves up and get back to winning ways with a possible mid-table finish on the cards if the Kangaroos can finish off the season in style.
